I chose Goddess

XIHE

She is a Sun Goddess, mother of ten Suns who had the shape of a three legged crow.

Her name can be translated as "Breath of Peace".

The theme was Snow White and the lesson was very tough!
I made a mess right in the beginning but, as I hate to waste paper, I tried to save it in some way. :)
This is the result (totally the opposite of the lesson teaching... hehehe!!) of which, anyway, I am not disappointed. ;)

Back from my short vacation!

We have spent our time touring, so I didn't have much time for making art.

I am showing you some pieces I made before leaving and the only one I was able to complete while there. :)

AFRICAN

I chose

YEMAYà

 Mother of all the Orishas of Yoruba religion, she is worshipped both in Africa and in Central and South America.

She is the feminine principle of creation and patron of rivers and oceans.

Her name is a contraction of the words "Iye omo eja", meaning "Mother whose children are like fish".

I have been in close contact with the Ocean during my vacation in Gran Canaria and felt the nourishing power of Yemayà. :)

I chose NUT.

Nut is a Sky Goddess, mother of Isis, Osiris, Seth and Nephthys.

She is usually represented as a naked woman arching over the Earth.

Protector of the dead and barrier against the forces of chaos.

I am very happy of how I depicted her.

The session of SoulCollage opened a door! It's been quite a time since my last collage, so I decided to join an art challenge on Instagram and use intuitive collage in all the pieces.

13 Goddesses Challenge - Week #5: NATIVE AMERICAN - SEDNA, Teaching Mixedmedia & Women Unleashed Online Retreat

Last one has been a creatively busy week!

First of all I have been asked to teach a couple of mini intuitive mixedmedia classes to some very talented teenagers. 

For privacy I won't publish their artwork, but I can publish mine. :)

The girls were very happy and told me they will come again. Wow!! :)

On Monday I decided to attend an amazing FREE online retreat called

WOMEN UNLEASHED

There are a lot of teachers and it is helping me a lot.

I chose 

SEDNA

She is a Goddess of Inuit mythology.

She is a beautiful woman who is drowned by her father, becoming a sea goddess worshipped by fishermen. 

She is the ruler of Life and Death.

This is my vision of Sedna:

The whales are collaged. I drew the shapes on scrapbooking colored paper, cut them and glued them.

 The prompt for this week is: Semitic

I chose Goddess 

LILITH

Although her myth originated in Mesopotamian religion,  we mostly know her from Jewish Mythology.

Lilith is known as a Demon and as Adam's first wife, the one who refuses to submit to male supremacy and, thus, is banished and replaced by Eve. She then becomes a demon.

There are various myths linked to this "Wild Goddess", but they all agree on her being a dangerous woman.

Her name can be translated as "female night being" or "female night demon".

What I love of Lilith's myths is that She is a woman who frightens men, especially the patriarchal-style ones. She can be seen as the Mother of Feminism.

Here is my Lilith.

I glued some scrap paper on my page and gessoed it.

Started my sketch.

Being a creature of the night, I colored her hair purple.

I then added black to the bird on her head to represent a crow, a psychopomp (guide of souls to the Otherworld).

And here She is in all her beauty! :)

She is a Queen, so I gave her a crown.

Friday Idea & 23rd Pattern

It's too hot these days for staying at the PC. We are experiencing a huge heat wave in Italy, and I don't have air conditioning!!!! 

So I made my fan my best friend and and try to draw something.

This week I have been asked to become Admin of the Zentangle: Journaled and Tangled FB group!

I am so excited! I have been tangling for 5 years now and this for me is a sort of reward for my efforts to improve my skills. :)

Transformation #3 & Friday FREEBIE

So many things have happened since my last post! :)

This transformation year is running fast but it's running the right direction! Eheheh!

- My hubby has finally found a job. A contract for four months, but we are positive it is going to be  a year long one. 

- My Etsy Shop is working better and I have also received some custom orders.

- I'm drawing and painting abstract art

- Aaaaaand: I'm currently working on a big and amazing custom project for a FB friend. I'll tell you about it ASAP! :)

Since January I have been joining a once a month Art Therapy group with a wonderful art therapist who lives in town. Last Sunday, while discussing our artworks she told me a word:

TRANSFORMATION!!!!

Well, I think I'm on the right track! :)

Transformation - part #2

Hellooooo!!

It's been exactly 2 months since my last post!

I'm so sorry about not having pubilshed anything for such a long time, but I guess I needed some time for creating and completing my tasks.

I worked on my Etsy Shop (and had sales, too!!), drawn mandalas for my Zen Mandalas Coloring Ebook, experimented with mixed media techniques and attended my Illustration Course.

Phew!! Ahahaha!

Some news are in the air (that's why the post title is Transformation), but I will talk about them at due time. :)

ZEN MANDALAS COLORING BOOK GIVEAWAY

So, the Illustration Course that I started in January finished this week. I'm very glad that I had the chance of attending it. Even though I'm not properly an illustrator, I have learned a lot and created a "my style" illustration of a H.P. Lovecraft poem.

Last month I was able to pay one of my bills with my Etsy Shop earnings! WOW!

I have been working on new items and I hope I will be able to pay one bill this month, too! :)

Transformation

In December I decided not to choose a word for 2015. 

But lately the word  

TRANSFORMATION 

keeps popping out everywhere I look, so I'm keeping it as my word.

My Illustration class is proceeding and I'm still creating out of my comfort zone.

Out of my Comfort Zone & New Etsy Items

Helloooo!

This week I have been working on some "out of my comfort zone" pages.

I'm becoming obsessed by watercolors and watered acrilycs and I thought of giving a try at making some inkblot pages.

On Sunday I went to an Art Therapy meeting. It was the first time for me, but the session has been very enlightening.

I used chalk (another "out of my comfort zone" medium) to create this:
