Positivity Needed!

Despite my daily efforts for finding balance and  positivity, sometimes Life strikes you in the back.
Last week has been very tough.
On Monday I had to take my hubby to the E.R., because he woke up in a spin. He could not make a clear speech and kept staring at the walls...
The doctors diagnosed a sort of depression caused by anxiety and stress (it's not the first time that this happens, but this time it was worse).
Hubby hasn't been working for months. Now he has some small jobs, but he feels very useless and depressed...
I took him to the E.R. because I wanted to be sure that he hadn't anything in his brain. The CAT revealed nothing... phew...
He is now taking some pills and feeling better. I hope he is going to be good for August, because I have to leave for Spain for three weeks. I'm still in doubt wether to go or not.....

Sorry for this outburst, but I need to let off steam. :)

So, last week we have been very quiet at home, watching movies. And I have made some new sketches on my Moleskine.

Watercolors and ink.

Collage.

Watercolor and ink.

Zentangle page using HUGGINS variations.

Have a great week!!

  1. You don't ever have to apologise for being upset at something like this! I know exactly what you are feeling. Hubby has had a few stressful years in and out of work. I had to make him quit a well paid job knowing it would mean difficulties for us when I discovered he had been put on Valium by his GP. Am am certain the future will bring you both happiness. ...and you must continue with your plans to go to Spain. Your husband would surely feel more guilty if he thought you had cancelled because of him. Try finding a project for him to concentrate on while your away. Hugs XXX

  3. Fantastic Art!!! We all have the need to rant at some point...the need to get it out must be dealt with so we can go on and heal. I agree with Gina...canceling your trip will probably make him feel worse... but you know what's best for the two of you and I know you'll make the right choice. Thinking of you in my daily prayers and meditations.

  9. stress is the worst, hope your husband gets some relief, when we are stressed we take a lavender sachet and squeeze it like a worry ball, it does help, your art is wonderful, beautiful details and soft colors. a trip to spain would be just the thing I think, hope you do go

  10. Ciao Simona, mi dispiace moltissimo e vivendo in Italia so cosa state passando, cosa stiamo passando come Paese.

  11. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's illness. It must be an anxious time for you both. I can totally understand how depression can set in when people are out of full time work. I'm sending you positive thoughts and hope that things improve for you both soon. Your illustrations are beautiful - you are such a fabulous zentangler!

  12. This is the best place to vent where you have a support network!! So sorry about hubby I'm sure it was very scary...thinking stroke or something of that nature!! Don't compromise your own life too much, sad to say I did and now that I'm older would recommend not to! But you will do what your heart tells you....Beautiful artwork...the sun looks so vulnerable!!

  14. I'm so glad you felt comfortable enough to vent with us here in blogland. It's such a great support team of multi talented people and we all go thru some times when we need to vent, and to receive some encouraging words. I'm sorry for what you and hubby are going thru-we 've been thru some stressful job loss times too. Keep the faith, knowing it will all work out.I didn't know anxiety and stress could cause such stroke-like symptoms. Good to know as my Mom has gone thru similar issues a few times.
Your doodles and watercolor art are amazing Simona!! Take care love.

  18. We have (and still do) deal with depression and anxiety in my home. I know how devastating it is and how it can affect you physically. I am praying for some peace for both of you. Thank goodness you have your art - I know that creating puts me in a peaceful place when all around seems to be falling apart.
